About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead front-end engineering for capital projects, including layout and sizing of power systems
- Review one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical studies, and control narratives
- Provide QA/QC oversight for vendor drawings and consultant deliverables
- Provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning of power plant assets
- Partner with Field Operations to troubleshoot electrical failures and perform root-cause analysis
- Specify and integrate high and medium voltage equipment including GIS, GSU Transformers, and MV/LV Switchgear
- Implement IEC 61850 standard, including GOOSE & MMS protocols
- Conduct Protection & Control coordination studies and fault analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Minimum 6+ years in industrial electrical engineering
- Expert working knowledge of NEC application to industrial installations
- Comprehensive understanding of generator physics and operations
- Ability to travel approximately 20% to project sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Simple and Combined Cycle Turbine Generators or Reciprocating Engines
- Experience with Microgrid Controllers
- Knowledge of synchronization for islanded electrical systems
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Texas or Colorado
- Proficiency in power modeling software such as ETAP or SKM
- Experience managing utility-scale interconnects
- Background in Power Generation or Oil & Gas industries
