Senior Electrical Engineer, Power Systems

Responsibilities

• Lead front-end engineering for capital projects, including layout and sizing of power systems
• Review one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical studies, and control narratives
• Provide QA/QC oversight for vendor drawings and consultant deliverables
• Provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning of power plant assets
• Partner with Field Operations to troubleshoot electrical failures and perform root-cause analysis
• Specify and integrate high and medium voltage equipment including GIS, GSU Transformers, and MV/LV Switchgear
• Implement IEC 61850 standard, including GOOSE & MMS protocols
• Conduct Protection & Control coordination studies and fault analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
• Minimum of 6+ years in industrial electrical engineering
• Expert working knowledge of NEC application to industrial installations
• Comprehensive understanding of generator physics and operations
• Ability to travel approximately 20% to project sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Simple and Combined Cycle Turbine Generators or Reciprocating Engines
• Experience with Microgrid Controllers
• Knowledge of synchronization for islanded electrical systems
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Texas or Colorado
• Proficiency with power modeling software such as ETAP or SKM
• Experience managing utility-scale interconnects
• Background in Power Generation or Oil & Gas industry
