About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design low voltage dry-type transformers (100 KvA - 3000KvA up to 600 volts) and related assemblies of varying complexity
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards and design requirements
  • Support product certification planning and testing processes in coordination with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs)
  • Assist in the design and implementation of engineering repository structures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for magnetics design
  • Support production through cost and design for manufacturing analysis (DFMEA / DFSS)
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize assembly and testing processes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UL, IEEE, IEC, CSA, and DOE standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the design and testing of transformers; OR a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least one (1) year of relevant experience
  • Must have valid US work authorization without the need for corporate sponsorship
  • Ability to reside in or relocate to the Richmond, VA area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically in the design and testing of low voltage dry-type transformers
  • Familiarity with mechanical design software such as Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Proven experience in the successful manufacture of single and three-phase dry-type low-voltage transformers or reactors
  • Strong familiarity with UL, IEEE, NEC, and NEMA standards
  • Practical experience in design verification and validation processes
