Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and optimize modular BOM structures
  • Use ECAD tools to create, review, and release vehicle components, schematics, and harness assemblies
  • Perform design trade-offs and optimization for robust, manufacturable, and maintainable concepts
  • Use analytical tools to assess power, grounding, circuit protection, EMC, signal integrity, and thermal management
  • Support designs throughout the entire lifecycle, including production launch and field support
  • Provide expert input for DVP&R and execute defined test plans
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and manufacturing engineers
  • Train and mentor junior engineers through design reviews and technical guidance

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive engineering experience
  • Experience with low voltage (12/24VDC) and high voltage (600VDC, 240/480VAC) systems
  • Proficiency in wiring harness design and formboard drawing using CAD tools (Zuken, Capital, or AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with multimeters, power supplies, CANalyzer, and oscilloscopes
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as J1939, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
  • Understanding of regulatory standards including SAE, NFPA, and ISO
  • Familiarity with BOM, documentation control, and revision management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive, commercial, or heavy-duty vehicle design experience
  • Experience in electrical harness manufacturing or industrial control systems
  • Experience with configure-to-order products and modular BOM management
