About the role

Responsibilities

  • Research, propose, and develop innovative circuit designs for TASER energy weapons and related wirelessly connected products.
  • Design, develop, and verify system circuitry and hardware using OrCAD Schematic tools.
  • Collaborate with PCB designers to guide layout implementation and review designs for signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Lead schematic and layout design inspections to improve design quality and product reliability.
  • Bring up, characterize, and debug systems and circuits using laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts (FCC, CE, IEC, etc.) through design best practices and debug activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
  • 6+ years of industry-leading electronics design experience, specifically with densely populated, tightly packaged embedded electronics.
  • Proficiency in power supply design, including switch-mode (buck, boost, flyback) and linear regulators.
  • Extensive experience with embedded microcontrollers and high-speed/low-speed communication interfaces (USB, UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Proficiency in OrCAD or Cadence for schematic design and BOM development.
  • Experience designing for electromagnetic compatibility, including EMI/ESD protection and filtering techniques.
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronics bring-up and debugging in a lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing tightly packaged, hand-held embedded systems powered by rechargeable batteries.
  • Experience integrating electromechanical components such as solenoids.
  • Expertise in developing, testing, and characterizing custom magnetics for high-voltage power supplies.
