About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, qualify, and test custom software defined radios (SDR) and high-speed hardware
- Work with state-of-the-art FPGAs and design/test high-speed digital SERDES interfaces
- Characterize and optimize wide bandwidth data converter performance
- Design and layout high-speed digital PCBs
- Test and validate full radio signal chains
- Identify components that satisfy rigorous performance requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate systems into various spacecraft
Requirements
- 5-10+ years of electrical or computer engineering experience
- B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree
- Strong experience with digital communications theory and measurement
- Proficiency with full RF signal chains and RF test equipment (VNA, Spectrum analyzer, Signal generator)
- Hands-on experience with PCB design and Altium or similar EDA tools
- Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills
- Ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch in a fast-paced environment
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using state-of-the-art wideband programmable data converters
- Experience designing high-speed clock trees
- Experience designing high-reliability systems (Aerospace, defense, or automotive)
- Familiarity with radio nonidealities such as HD, IMD, IQ imbalance, gain ripple, and group delay distortion
- Proficiency with Python for measurement automation and data analysis
