Senior Ecologist

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and lead ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), UKHab surveys, and protected species surveys
• Prepare tenders and fee quotations for various schemes and survey suites
• Produce high-quality ecological deliverables, such as Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species Reports, and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA)
• Manage projects and maintain strong client liaison
• Consult and negotiate with regulators and stakeholders
• Mentor and provide training to the wider ecology team to support professional growth

Requirements

• Academic qualification in a related discipline
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
• Possession of protected species licenses or relevant specialist skill sets
• Proven experience undertaking PEAs, UKHab surveys, and protected species surveys
• Experience in producing fee quotations, tenders, and technical ecological reports
• Strong knowledge of ecological legislation, policy, and survey methodologies
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience authoring Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)
• Ability to contribute to Biodiversity chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
