About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of restoration field crews.
- Execute restoration work including native seeding, planting, erosion control, invasive species control, and herbicide application.
- Plan work activities, schedule crews, and manage material, equipment, and staffing needs.
- Train and mentor field staff to promote crew cohesion and high performance.
- Ensure adherence to project specifications, environmental regulations, and health and safety plans.
- Identify and mitigate job-site hazards to promote a strong safety culture.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment including trucks, trailers, UTVs, and power tools.
- Complete daily field documentation, reports, and logs accurately.
- Assist with map reading and GPS/GIS data collection.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor's degree in natural resources, life sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience leading crews in ecological-based project work.
- Experience with native and invasive species plant identification.
- Experience with herbicide selection, calibration, and application.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work in various weather conditions and rough terrain.
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and multi-week shifts on the road.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators Certifications in Categories 5.0 and 6.0 (or ability to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors or skid steers.
- Experience with basic GIS data entry and map reading.
- Active Fed Med Card or Class A Commercial Driver's License.
