Senior Earthing & Bonding Engineer

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed Earthing & Bonding (E&B) designs for traction power substations, route-wide systems, stations, and depots
• Develop lightning protection, EMC design, and technical documentation
• Perform electrical modelling and calculations using tools like CDEGS
• Implement stray current mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with safety standards (EN 50122-1, EN 50122-2)
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including Track, Civil, Traction Power, and Signalling
• Conduct site-based testing including soil resistivity surveys and Fall of Potential (FoP) testing
• Provide technical advisory and support during Testing & Commissioning phases

Requirements

• Electrical Engineering qualification
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience
• Proven experience in Earthing & Bonding design within rail, LRT, or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of British Standards and Rail Standards (Network Rail, HS2, TfL)
• Proficiency in engineering software such as CDEGS
• Experience in multi-disciplinary design coordination and interface management
• Ability to support and develop less experienced team members
• Right to work in the UK

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Registration with an engineering institute
• Experience in DPE/CRE roles
• Knowledge of RIBA, BSRIA, GRIP, or PACE design stages
• Experience working with 3D models in a BIM environment
• Knowledge of NEC contracts
