About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and manufacturing of durable tooling, including machining fixtures, gauges, and lifting devices
  • Analyze tooling packages from Manufacturing Engineering to understand scope-of-work requirements
  • Conduct concept and layout approval design reviews for new and legacy programs
  • Calculate cost estimates for tool design and manufacturing projects
  • Validate supplier quotes and approve purchase orders for design, manufacturing, and repair
  • Manage moderately-to-significantly sized projects with minimal oversight
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals
  • Ensure all processes comply with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and quality requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience)
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Proficiency in NX or similar CAD software
  • Strong expertise in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and reading/interpreting 2-D drawings
  • Experience with dimension and geometric tolerance of tooling prints and models
  • Ability to resolve producibility concerns and work in an integrated product development environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Global Trade Compliance requirements
  • Understanding of AS 9100 or ISO 13399 standards
  • Understanding of process planning, including material procurement and selection of tools/feeds/speeds for various alloys
