About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead drainage design efforts for local transportation projects and larger alternative project delivery segments
- Manage and oversee the work of junior and mid-level engineers and designers, including task assignment and review
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership regarding drainage and stormwater engineering methods
- Prepare and review complex hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for storm drains, detention facilities, and culverts
- Develop and review storm drain plans, profiles, details, and specifications to ensure quality and consistency
- Coordinate with other design disciplines to develop integrated project designs
- Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standard practices on all drainage deliverables
- Interface with clients to address review comments and represent the drainage discipline in meetings
- Support proposal and business development activities and contribute to drainage reports and technical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 7+ years of related drainage, stormwater, or transportation design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
- Demonstrated experience leading storm drain and water quality design for transportation projects
- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards
- Experience with modeling tools such as SWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or ArcMap
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with clients and stakeholders
- Significant experience writing and reviewing technical drainage reports
