Senior Donor Specialist

Responsibilities

• Educate military members, veterans, families, and community stakeholders about the importance of brain tissue donation.
• Establish and maintain relationships with funeral homes, medical examiners, and healthcare organizations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for potential donors, answering questions from families and healthcare workers.
• Coordinate donor screening, registration, and specimen recovery in collaboration with local coroners and transport providers.
• Oversee and train Donor Specialists in consent processes and recovery activities.
• Perform tissue recovery duties in mortuaries, funeral homes, and healthcare facilities as needed.
• Ensure all research activities comply with federal regulations and protect the rights of human research participants.
• Manage on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience in the funeral industry, bereavement counseling, human subject research, tissue donation, clinical lab, nursing, or medic roles.
• Alternatively, an Associate's degree plus 4 years of related experience.
• Or, 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to work on an on-call basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to perform tissue recovery in mortuaries and healthcare facilities.
• Ability to travel significantly within the assigned region.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in military environments and interacting with service members and their families.
• Direct experience in the field of tissue or organ donation.
