About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert providing disability-related support, coaching, and reasonable accommodations for graduate and professional students.
  • Determine reasonable accommodations for academic milestones including theses, dissertations, research responsibilities, internships, field placements, and clinicals.
  • Assess whether accommodations conflict with technical and academic standards set by the Division of Graduate Education or professional accreditation agencies.
  • Liaise with on-campus and off-campus departments to coordinate services and explain disability resources.
  • Lead disability awareness presentations and programming for campus faculty, staff, and students within graduate and professional programs.
  • Advise and guide other staff members in the delivery of support services and accommodations.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in post-secondary settings working with students with disabilities, specifically in graduate or professional programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Assembly Bill 746.
  • Advanced knowledge of academic and technical standards and expectations within graduate and professional academic programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counseling on disability management and compensatory strategies.
  • Master's Degree in an educational field of study or a similar discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact sensitively with diverse student populations and campus colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of University of California (UC) guidelines, practices, and policies as they pertain to disabled students.
  • Experience assisting with general office functions.
