Senior Director, Technical Accounting

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end financial statements and disclosures, including GAAP financials, footnotes, and supporting schedules
• Lead external audit strategy and execution as the primary point of contact for auditors
• Oversee complex technical accounting areas such as stock-based compensation, business combinations, and leases
• Lead technical accounting research and review of memos to support policy decisions
• Drive SEC and public-company reporting readiness, including 10-Q and 10-K filings
• Partner with FP&A, Legal, and Investor Relations to align financial results and KPIs
• Design and scale reporting processes, controls, and automation
• Support M&A activity including due diligence and post-transaction integration
• Lead and mentor team members to set standards for technical excellence

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with technical accounting leadership
• Experience in a technology or scale-up startup environment
• Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and preparing audited financial statements
• Proven experience leading external audits in high-growth environments
• Experience with public-company readiness, SEC reporting, or SOX compliance
• CPA certification required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Big 4 public accounting experience
• Experience supporting IPO readiness
• Exposure to M&A due diligence and purchase accounting
• Experience with ERP systems like Oracle or Workiva
• Interest in leveraging AI and automation for reporting scalability
