Senior Director, Software Development, Test Automation

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the test automation platform, including frameworks, fixtures, and test orchestration
• Set standards for unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, regression, performance, and chaos testing
• Own the test execution layer of CI/CD, focusing on parallelization, caching, and hermetic environments
• Drive AI-driven test automation using LLMs for test generation, self-healing UI tests, and failure triage
• Establish the eval discipline for the AI/agent stack using golden datasets and regression suites
• Define and operate quality metrics and SLOs, including coverage, escape rate, and MTTR
• Design the QC framework for lab automation, ensuring ALCOA+ compliance and data integrity
• Build and lead a 3–5 person team of test automation engineers

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading test automation or quality engineering
• 3+ years of experience managing engineers and scaling teams
• Strong software architecture skills with hands-on expertise in Python and/or TypeScript
• Deep CI/CD expertise (GitHub Actions, Nx, Turborepo, or Bazel)
• Hands-on experience with AI-driven test automation and LLM evaluation frameworks
• Proven track record of building and driving adoption of test automation platforms
• Experience with SRE practices and metrics-driven leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in GxP-regulated environments or scientific data integrity programs
• Experience with lab automation, LIMS, or instrument-driven systems
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS quality at scale
• Exposure to event-driven systems, agent orchestration frameworks, or MCP
• Background in performance/load testing or chaos engineering
