About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead SEC reporting strategy and execution, including preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements
- Coordinate with Legal, FP&A, and Stock Administration for disclosure data
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Establish and evolve a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance framework
- Develop company-wide financial reporting policies and governance structures
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions in compliance with US GAAP
- Lead, mentor, and develop the SEC reporting and SOX organization
- Oversee external audit relationships and third-party advisors
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting (or post-graduate degree)
- 15+ years of experience in finance/accounting
- 12+ years of experience in public accounting or related industry
- 6+ years of technical accounting focus with US GAAP proficiency
- Extensive experience leading SEC reporting and SOX compliance in a public company
- Experience building and scaling teams in high-growth environments
- Strong understanding of SEC regulations and internal control frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
- Biotech or life sciences industry experience
- Experience with SAP S4/Hana and ActiveDisclosure
- CPA, CIA, or similar professional certification
