Senior Director of Shelter

For over 50 years, Covenant House New York (CHNY) has been at the forefront of transforming lives by providing comprehensive shelter, housing, and wrap-around support services for vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth. As the largest provider of these essential services in New York City, CHNY impacts the lives of over 1,500 young people aged 16-24 every year.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple shelter programs including Youth Shelter, Homeless Youth Adult Program, and Mother & Child Shelter
• Lead the design and implementation of new program models, metrics, and staffing structures
• Ensure high-quality day-to-day operations and compliance with NYC Department of Youth and Community Development regulations
• Hire, train, and supervise a program team, including Program Coordinators
• Implement evidence-based models and ensure staff training fidelity
• Utilize data and information systems to evaluate programs and inform decision-making
• Manage staff scheduling for 24/7 facilities and ensure appropriate staff-to-youth ratios
• Foster a healthy, inclusive, and equitable organizational culture

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Experience in program management
• At least three years of experience managing staff with excellence in performance development
• Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to leverage technology and systems to drive operational results
