Senior Director, Medicinal Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Formulate medicinal chemistry strategies and utilize the Genesis platform to execute drug discovery programs from Hit ID through candidate nomination.
• Use Structure-Based Drug Design (SBDD) principles to optimize physiochemical properties and interpret ADME/PK/Toxicology and biology data.
• Use data visualization software and metric-based analysis to form medicinal chemistry hypotheses and prioritize strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including biology, DMPK, software engineers, and computational chemists to drive hypothesis-driven decisions.
• Communicate and work with industry collaborators on drug discovery projects.
• Mentor internal chemists and other scientific disciplines on medicinal chemistry principles.

Requirements

• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry with 12+ years of industrial drug discovery experience, OR an MS in synthetic organic chemistry with 18+ years of industrial experience.
• Expert medicinal chemistry knowledge with expertise in SBDD and physical property-based optimization of drug-like space.
• Proven experience leading drug discovery programs.
• Expert synthetic chemistry knowledge and advanced problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills for both informal team settings and professional presentations.
• Ability to adopt new technology and a willingness to learn.
