Senior Director, External Manufacturing Business Partner & Category Procurement Lead

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead category management approaches across External Manufacturing categories, including Oral, Liquid, Sterile, and Biologics.
• Develop actionable category strategies aligned with business priorities, supplier capabilities, and manufacturing needs.
• Oversee key External Manufacturing (EXM) supplier relationships, ensuring performance oversight and issue resolution.
• Act as the primary procurement partner to senior leaders in External Manufacturing and Business Development.
• Deliver measurable value through cost optimization, sourcing discipline, and demand management for approximately $1.5B in spend.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of category managers and sourcing leads.
• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure supplier compliance and supply resilience.

Requirements

• Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of people leadership or equivalent team leadership experience.
• Proven experience leading category management or strategic sourcing teams within manufacturing or regulated industries.
• Strong ability to operate effectively in matrixed, evolving organizations.
• Solid analytical, financial, and commercial acumen.
• Understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of External Manufacturing or CDMO services.
• Experience supporting procurement function build-out or transformation.
• Six Sigma or similar certification.
