Senior Director, Corporate Payroll Operations

Responsibilities

• Lead Payroll Shared Services Corporate Payroll Operations, ensuring timely processing for weekly and bi-weekly freelance and non-union employees.
• Standardize and optimize processes and procedures to drive operational efficiency.
• Partner strategically with Finance, IT, HR, and other operational departments to meet business requirements.
• Manage escalations and direct the payroll team in implementing scalable solutions to business issues.
• Lead and coach a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate payroll-related risks and implement controls to prevent errors, fraud, or compliance violations.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and flowcharts for all corporate payroll processes.
• Ensure strict adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance procedures.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience leading payroll processes for large-volume, multi-state, and multi-entity organizations.
• Expert knowledge of FLSA, federal, state, and local wage, hour, and tax regulations (with emphasis on NY and CA).
• Proven experience managing transformational change initiatives and working across various operational areas.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage highly collaborative teams in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Smartsheet.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
• Experience with cloud-based (SaaS) payroll applications, specifically Workday.
