Senior Director, Africa

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and programmatic leadership for area-based conservation and species priorities in Africa
• Lead the Southern Africa Priority Place Program and coordinate cross-organizational experts
• Drive fundraising efforts and manage annual program fundraising goals
• Build and lead a distributed, diverse team through coaching and development
• Represent WWF in external events, meetings, and fora
• Identify innovative solutions to political, social, and scientific challenges in conservation

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in conservation, natural resource management, or related field
• 12+ years of professional experience
• 5+ years of conservation experience in Southern Africa
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing staff and complex programs
• Deep understanding of African conservation issues, ecology, and community-led conservation
• Proven success in strategic planning, budgeting, and fundraising
• Experience building partnerships across community, corporate, governmental, and NGO sectors
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
