About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and programmatic leadership for area-based conservation and species priorities in Africa
- Lead the Southern Africa Priority Place Program and coordinate cross-organizational experts
- Drive fundraising efforts and manage annual program fundraising goals
- Build and lead a distributed, diverse team through coaching and development
- Represent WWF in external events, meetings, and fora
- Identify innovative solutions to political, social, and scientific challenges in conservation
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in conservation, natural resource management, or related field
- 12+ years of professional experience
- 5+ years of conservation experience in Southern Africa
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing staff and complex programs
- Deep understanding of African conservation issues, ecology, and community-led conservation
- Proven success in strategic planning, budgeting, and fundraising
- Experience building partnerships across community, corporate, governmental, and NGO sectors
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
