Senior Development Officer

About the role
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and cultivate major gift prospects to support the university's mission and the Defy Gravity campaign
- Develop and implement tailored fundraising initiatives and stewardship programs for gifts of $50,000 and above
- Meet face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and strategic opportunities
- Write donor-facing materials including funding proposals, acknowledgements, recognition communications, and briefing notes
- Collaborate with academic leaders, senior volunteers, and advancement colleagues to structure gift opportunities
- Manage sensitive and confidential information while tracking donor interactions through detailed call reports and solicitation plans
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in a staff fundraising role
- Proven track record of managing a substantial pool of major gift donors
- Demonstrated experience in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors at the $50,000+ level
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills in complex environments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with occasional evening and weekend flexibility
