About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct multi-faceted research plans, including qualitative discovery research on jobsites and evaluation of prototypes in the field.
- Build and maintain a network of professional users to understand evolving needs and work contexts.
- Analyze and synthesize research findings into actionable insights for new features, functionalities, and business approaches.
- Facilitate hands-on tool evaluations, team workshops, and participatory co-creation sessions.
- Present research findings through engaging storytelling, including the use of photos, video, and diagrams, to key stakeholders.
- Experiment with new methodologies and champion User-Centered Design and Design Thinking across the organization.
- Mentor and coach junior-level researchers.
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Business, or Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the "fuzzy front end" of product development with an understanding of innovation methods.
- 5+ years of experience using qualitative research methods such as observation, interviewing, and contextual inquiry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with video editing and 2D software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel 25-35% overnight.
- Ability to present a past project and its methodology during the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a design consultancy.
- Familiarity with quantitative research methodologies, study design, and data analysis.
- An understanding of how quantitative and qualitative methodologies complement each other.
