About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead technical and design processes, design teams, and subcontractors throughout design, procurement, and construction
- Manage technical design of schemes to ensure revenue generation through quality, cost-effectiveness, and buildability
- Review and input into allocated bids, undertaking technical appraisals and assessing design requirements
- Produce, develop, and manage project-specific design programmes and progress reporting
- Fulfil CDM Principal Designer and Building Regulations Principal Design roles
- Coordinate external consultants to ensure delivery within time, quality, and budget constraints
- Ensure all building design aspects are coordinated, including fire safety, structures, M&E, and façades
- Manage change control processes for variations in relation to drawings, programmes, and costs
- Oversee document control and the flow of information to Commercial, Operations, and Client teams
- Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to monitor work execution against design specifications
Requirements
- Proven track record managing design and technical processes for residential buildings
- High rise development experience
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations (dutyholder roles and competency)
- Strong technical knowledge to assess and monitor design work compliance
- Experience in designer scoping
- Ability to lead and coordinate managers across a wider team
- Valid driving licence
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Architectural qualification (Minimum Level 4 HNC/NVQ4 or equivalent)
- Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or Revit) and BIM
- Knowledge of PAS9980 fire risk assessments, EWS1s, and FRAEW
- Membership of a professional body such as CIOB, CIAT, or RICS
- Knowledge of temporary works and utility application processes
