Rhoda AI is building the next generation of generalist intelligent robots. We own the full robotics stack from high-performance hardware and robot systems to the infrastructure and state-of-the-art foundation world models that control our robots. We've raised over $450M and are investing aggressively in model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing scale-up.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of motors, gear trains, and actuator housings from concept through mass production
  • Produce high-fidelity 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings with comprehensive GD&T
  • Perform dimensional stack-up analysis on critical-to-function interfaces including air gaps and gear meshes
  • Coordinate with suppliers through RFQs, technical feasibility reviews, and manufacturing troubleshooting
  • Partner with modeling and test engineers to define test plans for component optimization and durability
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for actuator characterization, including fixtures and teardown analysis
  • Integrate components cross-functionally with electronics, controls, and systems engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience
  • Experience with at least one full-cycle product launch of precision electromechanical hardware
  • Strong grasp of machine design fundamentals including bearing selection, gear sizing, and shaft design
  • Deep proficiency in CAD (CATIA preferred) and GD&T
  • Ability to interpret FEA for structural, modal, and thermal iteration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing harmonic drives, cycloidal drives, or precision planetary gearboxes
  • Experience with PMSM/BLDC motor mechanical design
  • Knowledge of precision machining, MIM, die casting, or gear grinding
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, fatigue analysis, and Weibull-based life testing
  • Prior experience in robotics, automotive electrification, or aerospace actuation
