About the role

Responsibilities

  • Drive part design and redesign across semiconductor machinery hardware including wafer handling, thermal management, and UHV chambers
  • Develop deep component-level understanding of requirements and system constraints
  • Lead first-principles part redesigns using additive manufacturing to enable new geometries and improved performance
  • Define and evaluate design concepts regarding materials, tolerances, and thermal/structural behavior
  • Serve as a senior technical resource to resolve advanced design tradeoffs and mentor junior engineers
  • Partner with internal engineering and operations teams to drive feasibility and execution
  • Lead technical engagements with customer engineering teams to present design solutions
  • Identify and champion new application spaces for Freeform's technology
  • Shape the product and technology roadmap through technical leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment or fabrication industry
  • Proven ability to lead complex hardware programs from concept to production
  • Expert intuition for part design and design-for-manufacturing
  • Deep systems-level understanding of semiconductor fabrication hardware

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment or fabrication
  • Experience with wafer handling, vacuum hardware, or thermal management components
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing, casting, forging, or advanced machining
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical direction
  • Strong first-principles reasoning and ability to drive decisions in fast-moving environments
