About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead technical and design processes, design teams, and subcontractors throughout design, procurement, and construction
- Manage technical design of schemes to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and meeting company targets
- Review and input into allocated bids, undertaking technical appraisals of design information
- Identify value engineering opportunities and assess consultant/subcontractor costs
- Produce, develop, and manage project-specific design programmes and progress reporting
- Fulfil CDM Principal Designer and Building Regulations Principal Design roles
- Coordinate external consultants to ensure design compliance with legislation, planning consent, and buildability
- Manage the flow of information to Commercial, Operations, and Client teams
- Oversee document control and manage the processing of information through workflows
- Undertake site visits and attend project meetings to monitor work execution against design specifications
- Manage change control processes for variations in relation to drawings, programmes, and costs
Requirements
- Proven track record managing design and technical processes for residential buildings
- High-rise development experience
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations (dutyholder roles and competency requirements)
- Strong technical knowledge to assess and monitor design work compliance
- Experience in designer scoping
- Ability to review drawings and identify buildability and technical issues
- Valid driving licence
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Architectural qualification (Minimum Level 4 HNC/NVQ4 or equivalent)
- Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or Revit) and BIM
- Knowledge of PAS9980 fire risk assessments, EWS1s, and FRAEW
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIOB, CIAT, or RICS)
- Knowledge of temporary works and utility application processes
