Senior Database Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 databases
• Perform administration, design, performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security
• Troubleshoot challenging performance issues and develop proactive measures
• Work with engineering teams to automate reactive procedures
• Perform database code reviews and enforce best practices
• Design and implement systems, policies, and procedures for backup and disaster recovery
• Monitor ongoing capacity and implement architecture changes to improve global availability
• Participate in on-call rotations as part of a follow-the-sun team

Requirements

• 5+ years of Database Administration experience supporting mission-critical relational databases
• Extensive experience and knowledge of MS SQL 2019 or above
• Proficiency in performance tuning, optimization, and database internals
• Proficiency working in OLTP database environments
• Experience configuring and administering MSSQL replication, Availability Groups, and Distributed Availability Groups
• Full systems lifecycle experience from requirements gathering to delivery
• Experience designing and maintaining high-volume, large-scale database systems
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems (OLTP/DW MPP)
• Programming experience with C#/.NET
• AWS database management, OLAP experience, and PostgreSQL experience
• Experience with database design and management for compliance programs such as SOX or PCI
