About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve production forecasting systems for core financial metrics, including revenue and bookings in a consumption-based business
  • Build and maintain scalable statistical and machine learning models translating customer behavior and usage patterns into actionable forecasts
  • Design forecasting approaches prioritizing accuracy, stability, explainability, and robustness
  • Establish standards for model evaluation, backtesting, and uncertainty quantification
  • Diagnose material forecast movements and separate business changes from data issues or model artifacts
  • Improve forecasting stack reliability through monitoring, anomaly detection, and lifecycle management
  • Partner with Analytics Engineering and peer Data Scientists on shared infrastructure and production processes
  • Communicate forecast changes, risks, and model behavior clearly to senior leaders

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade statistical or machine learning systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with forecasting problems (revenue, demand, supply, or capacity)
  • Deep modeling skills including hierarchical, Bayesian, probabilistic, deep learning, or state-space models
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with large-scale data systems like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Spark
  • Demonstrated ownership of high-stakes outputs used by executive stakeholders
  • Strong systems thinking regarding monitoring, validation, and anomaly detection

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience forecasting in consumption-based or usage-based SaaS business models
  • Experience with executive-facing financial forecasts or planning systems
  • Experience owning models with daily or near-daily production outputs
  • Experience mentoring other scientists and shaping modeling standards
