Senior Data Scientist II

Responsibilities

• Lead a 0-1 AI transformation for the Careem app, specifically focusing on personalization and user engagement
• Build and deploy retrieval augmented generation (RAG) systems and other large language model applications
• Implement scalable machine learning algorithms for production use on big data environments
• Drive exploratory data analysis to identify new levers for product enhancement and user behavior modeling
• Design and execute randomized controlled experiments (A/B testing) to validate product changes
• Provide product leadership by delivering data-based recommendations to influence business decisions
• Shape and influence ML models and instrumentation to optimize the overall product experience

Requirements

• 7-9 years of experience in data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, and Big Data methodologies
• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
• 1-2 years of industrial experience in personalization, recommendation, or search is required
• Solid experience with Deep Learning techniques, including attention and retrieval models
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive
• Demonstrated experience with database technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, or Amazon EMR
• Strong understanding of ranking, retrieval, and classic machine learning workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a fast-paced, product-driven company
• Proficiency with business intelligence and visualization tools like Tableau or MicroStrategy
• Experience with geospatial data processing skills
