Senior Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor data platforms (Azure and on-prem / legacy) to ensure availability, performance, and reliability
• Run and support data processing workflows, including incident handling and troubleshooting failed jobs
• Implement and improve observability including monitoring, alerting, logging, and SLAs/SLOs
• Simplify and automate recurring operational tasks to reduce manual interventions
• Improve deployment, rollback, and change-management practices
• Collaborate with data engineers and product teams to operationalize new data products
• Contribute to operational documentation such as runbooks and best practices

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in data platform operations or data engineering
• Strong understanding of data processing concepts like batch, scheduling, and backfills
• Practical experience with Azure data services or traditional ETL tools
• Proficiency with SQL and modern version-control workflows
• Solid scripting or programming skills in Python, Bash, or SQL
• Ability to build small tools and utilities to automate operational tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Snowflake, or dbt/SQLMesh
• Knowledge of Git/GitHub and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience with Kubernetes and container-based workloads
• Familiarity with Kafka or event streaming platforms
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaaC) and platform automation
