Senior Data Governance Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of data governance practices to ensure consistent and responsible data management.
• Support Data Domain Owners and Data Stewards in operationalizing processes including ownership, stewardship, data quality, and metadata management.
• Drive the definition and adoption of shared business terminology and data definitions to enable a common language across the organization.
• Define and maintain pragmatic standards, guardrails, and guidelines for data management.
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to embed governance into real use cases and data products.
• Contribute to the implementation and improvement of data governance tooling such as data catalogues and MDM.
• Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance requirements like GDPR are applied in practical ways.
• Educate and coach stakeholders to build data literacy and governance awareness.

Requirements

• Strong experience in data governance and data management, including data quality and metadata.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into clear data definitions and governance artefacts.
• Experience driving data governance processes within complex organizations.
• Hands-on experience with data governance tooling such as data catalogues, MDM, or data quality tools.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Solid understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
• A pedagogical mindset with the ability to guide and enable others.
