Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines ingesting from PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Kafka, and AWS SQS into Snowflake
• Implement CDC patterns for near-real-time ingestion from transactional Aurora databases
• Build and maintain ELT pipelines using Python and dbt
• Design dimensional models, data vault structures, or medallion architecture layers in Snowflake
• Manage Snowflake account administration including RBAC, resource monitors, and virtual warehouse sizing
• Govern Snowflake credit consumption and maintain security posture via data masking and row access policies
• Maintain and optimize the Trino query layer over Snowflake and other data stores
• Implement data quality checks, anomaly detection, and freshness SLAs
• Collaborate with backend engineers and product managers to translate requirements into data engineering deliverables

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience
• SnowPro Core Certification
• Demonstrable production experience with Snowflake administration (RBAC, resource monitors, warehouse management)
• Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines from relational and NoSQL sources
• Experience consuming from event streaming systems like Kafka or AWS SQS
• Proficiency in Python and Apache Airflow
• Strong understanding of data warehouse design (star schema, dimensional modelling, or medallion architecture)
• Experience with dbt (data build tool)
• Advanced SQL skills including window functions and query optimization

Preferred Qualifications

• SnowPro Advanced certification
• Experience with CDC tools such as Debezium or AWS DMS
• Experience with Trino as a distributed query engine
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks like Great Expectations or Soda
• Experience in fintech, lending, or insurance domains
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS)
• Basic familiarity with Terraform
• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics
