Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate modern data infrastructure and backend services that support large-scale data processing and product needs.
• Own systems from architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
• Develop and improve data pipelines and data lake patterns using open formats and catalog technologies.
• Build APIs and services that expose data reliably at scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve complex technical problems and raise engineering standards.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating large-scale data platforms or backend systems.
• Knowledge of modern data engineering patterns and data lake style processing (e.g., Parquet).
• Hands-on experience with data lake catalogs such as Hive, Iceberg, or DuckLake.
• Experience with distributed databases or query systems like Trino, Doris, Spark, StarRocks, or ClickHouse.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Backend engineering experience building APIs, preferably in the JVM ecosystem (Kotlin, Ktor, or Quarkus).
• Experience with distributed caching (Redis) and event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ).
• Comfort working in containerized environments like Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modern data processing engines such as Polars or DataFusion.
• Experience contributing to the design of high-scale, distributed systems.
• Experience working in Linux-based production environments.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source technologies.
• Background in media, streaming, or large-scale consumer platforms.
