Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines supporting both batch and real-time data workflows
• Design and optimize data warehouse structures, storage strategies, and compute workflows on Google Cloud Platform
• Integrate multiple sources of data from existing and emerging technologies to improve the analytical platform
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual workflows and improve pipeline observability
• Partner with analysts, scouts, and Hockey Operations staff to translate business questions into scalable data solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 4–6 years of professional experience in data engineering or database management
• Expert proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) and Python
• Hands-on cloud engineering experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Strong experience with data modeling, data warehouse design, and production-grade ETL pipelines
• Demonstrated experience leading data engineering projects or mentoring junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field
• Prior experience in sports analytics, sports technology, or sports performance data
• Familiarity with hockey analytics concepts or NHL data sources
