About the role

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to identify and resolve hardware issues quickly
  • Decommission hardware for complex system changes, such as upgrading entire racks, following standard procedures
  • Delegate hardware installation, deployment, and replacement tasks to technicians while providing expert guidance
  • Ensure quality execution of work by coordinating downtime and keeping stakeholders informed to minimize rework
  • Assist and mentor technicians with challenging tasks and provide guidance on staging, setup, and startups
  • Verify security compliance during decommissions and process data-bearing devices for destruction
  • Maintain awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through performance dashboards
  • Conduct or assist in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with safety protocols and PPE usage

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Ability to work non-standard shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in computer science or a related field
  • Prior experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or Vendor-Specific Network Certifications
