About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT datacenter equipment including racks, hard drives, switches, and server components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians through on-the-job training and process reviews.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics to identify and resolve technical issues in network, storage, or server equipment with minimal business disruption.
  • Execute complex infrastructure changes, such as upgrading entire racks or performing memory upgrades and OS rebuilds.
  • Ensure compliance with data center business unit policies, security procedures, and safety protocols (EHS).
  • Conduct quality control activities, including post-execution verification of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders/stairs, stand for prolonged periods, and lift/push equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting IT equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 datacenter environment.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or vendor-specific network certifications.
