Senior Data Center Design Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver high-quality, consistent data center designs across the Americas within schedule and cost constraints.
• Influence internal stakeholders, operations, and external consultants to address program-wide design changes.
• Manage design team escalations and collaborate with procurement, construction, and external consultants.
• Communicate effectively with AWS Leadership and external partners, including tracking and reporting metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality.
• Drive innovation and simplification by eliminating rework, automating manual processes, and implementing best practices.
• Create global best practice documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Travel up to 25% for site assessments, design meetings, and construction reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) or Architecture.
• Experience in project management or management consulting, including managing multiple ongoing projects.
• Experience managing life cycle design projects from strategy through execution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into mass production.
• Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• 6+ years of specific experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
