Senior Data Analyst

Responsibilities

• Extract, process, and analyze data to produce rigorous, actionable insights and research that drive student success.
• Translate user stories into technical requirements and document data and analytics needs for complex projects.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to develop complex ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Build standard reports and advanced data visualizations using storytelling to compress time-to-action.
• Identify and investigate complex data issues to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across university data assets.
• Communicate findings and strategic guidance to peers, partners, and senior leaders through various synchronous and asynchronous formats.
• Write and interpret technical documentation, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
• 5 years of related experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, or Research.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including experience with window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for working with large, structured, and unstructured datasets.
• Extensive experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling (dimensional, star, and snowflake schemas).
• Experience with descriptive statistics, causal analysis, and inference.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with common project management methodologies like Agile or SDLC.
• Proficiency in flowchart and diagramming tools such as Miro, Visio, or Lucidchart.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
