Senior Data Analyst

Responsibilities

• Extract, process, and analyze data to produce rigorous, actionable insights and research that support university objectives.
• Translate user stories into technical requirements and document data and analytics needs for complex projects.
• Build standard reports, data visualizations, and dashboards using data storytelling to drive decision-making.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to develop complex ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Identify and solve complex data issues to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and validity of university data.
• Communicate findings effectively to peers, partners, and senior leaders through various synchronous and asynchronous formats.
• Contribute to the development of data management platforms, including data dictionaries and catalogs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
• 5 years of related experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including experience with complex queries, window functions, and performance tuning.
• High proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Strong knowledge of descriptive statistics, causal analysis, and inference.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, specifically advanced Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with common project management methodologies such as Agile or SDLC.
• Proficiency with flowchart and diagramming tools like Miro, Visio, or Lucidchart.
• Familiarity with higher education KPIs and data-driven decision-making in an academic environment.
