Senior Customer Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own complex, high-severity customer issues end-to-end, from initial signal through confirmed resolution.
• Lead deep-dive debugging across the full stack, including edge, network, DNS, transport, and application layers.
• Perform rapid incident response and participate in a global on-call rotation for high-severity incidents.
• Conduct proactive reliability engineering by analyzing telemetry to identify and mitigate systemic risks.
• Build automation, monitoring, and diagnostic tooling to reduce mean-time-to-detect (MTTD) and mean-time-to-resolve (MTTR).
• Partner with Product Engineering to drive long-term fixes and improve core product capabilities.
• Document resolution patterns in runbooks and contribute to an AI-native diagnostic ecosystem.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, systems engineering, or a deeply technical operations role.
• 2+ years of experience in customer-facing technical environments.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS/SSL, and BGP.
• Proficiency with observability and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, Kibana, and Grafana.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash or Python for automation and tooling.
• Proven experience with incident management, postmortems, and SLO/SLI-based reliability practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with engineers and enterprise customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep expertise in both L3/L4 network infrastructure and L7 application protocols.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience applying AI/ML to production engineering or operational workflows.
• Proficiency with Linux command-line tools (curl, dig, mtr, strace, ss).
• Knowledge of Cloudflare products or experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
