About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee GQ’s entertainment-focused vertical, shaping editorial priorities and coverage strategy for GQ.com
- Direct fast-moving coverage spanning film, television, music, podcasts, streaming culture, digital creators, and sports
- Own day-to-day editorial programming, balancing timely news with ambitious features and enterprise reporting
- Develop recurring editorial franchises and coordinate coverage for major tentpole moments like awards seasons and festivals
- Work closely with the features team to assign, edit, and manage major profiles, interviews, and enterprise stories
- Collaborate with audience development, social, video, and creative teams to maximize the reach of entertainment coverage
- Manage editorial budgets, freelance commissioning, and contributor relationships within the vertical
- Cultivate relationships with industry sources, including publicists, studios, labels, and talent representatives
Requirements
- 7+ years of editorial experience covering entertainment, culture, media, or celebrity journalism
- Strong experience managing digital editorial programming and fast-paced cultural coverage
- Excellent editing skills with experience shaping features, profiles, and criticism
- Deep understanding of the entertainment industry and the contemporary pop culture landscape
- Strong news judgment and the ability to identify stories that resonate with a digitally engaged audience
- Experience developing editorial franchises and cross-platform storytelling initiatives
- Familiarity with audience development, social media ecosystems, and digital publishing trends
