Senior Counsel, Legal

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex transactional matters including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, leases, and development agreements
• Advise on real estate and economic development projects involving waterfront, transportation, and infrastructure investments
• Represent the organization in negotiations with developers, lenders, and public agencies
• Manage transactions through closing by coordinating with internal teams and external counsel
• Advise staff on legal, contractual, and corporate compliance matters
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda for the General Counsel
• Prepare and present materials for the Boards of Directors and handle corporate governance matters

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active admission and good standing with the New York State Bar
• Minimum of five years of post-law school legal experience in transactional practice
• Experience in real estate, finance, construction, or contracts
• Strong legal research, analysis, and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage complex, multiparty transactions
• New York City residency required within 180 days of hire
