Senior Counsel, Commercial Legal

Responsibilities

• Drive complex deals by leading negotiations on high-stakes enterprise commercial and strategic partnership deals across APAC.
• Build for scale by developing innovative strategies, templates, playbooks, and processes for commercial legal support.
• Act as a strategic partner and key advisor to globally distributed commercial leadership, Sales, and Partnerships teams.
• Enhance efficiency by partnering with data and operations teams to leverage technology and automation.
• Collaborate globally with legal, compliance, and risk teams on multi-jurisdictional projects.
• Contribute positively to the culture of the legal and APAC leadership teams.

Requirements

• Law degree from a top law school.
• 6+ years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience at a top law firm.
• Fluency in Japanese (written and spoken) is essential.
• Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, and writing skills.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deals.
• High motivation and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative, empathetic mindset and high integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at a fintech or high-growth, globally distributed company.
• Experience drafting and negotiating technology transactions, SaaS agreements, and customer-facing services agreements.
