Senior Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle
• Provide comprehensive cost planning and estimating services
• Partner with design teams and general contractors to validate cost estimates
• Reconcile project changes and review contractor data for commercial accuracy
• Act as a key liaison with project stakeholders to support cost reports and forecasts
• Prepare written commentary and executive summaries on contractor submissions
• Coordinate and consolidate cost inputs from subcontractors and suppliers
• Track and manage cost impacts, contingency utilization, and change control
• Perform detailed cost checks and valuations on complex projects
• Support procurement activities by evaluating bids and leading negotiations
• Provide input into value engineering and design optimization initiatives
• Produce monthly cost reports, budget updates, and funding analyses
• Ensure effective cost auditing and final account closeout processes
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Manage financial performance across commissions, including fee forecasting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in construction cost management
• Experience leading cost management on medium to large sized construction projects
• Strong communication skills for client-facing environments
• Understanding of procurement strategies and change management principles

Preferred Qualifications

• RICS accreditation or working towards it
• Construction consultancy experience
