Senior Cost Engineer/Cost Control Lead

Responsibilities

• Review contractor pay applications, invoices, and Schedule of Values for accuracy, contract compliance, and cost reasonableness
• Evaluate change orders and contractor cost proposals for entitlement, pricing, and schedule impact
• Maintain accurate cost reports, including change logs, contingency logs, exposure registers, and accruals
• Build and validate Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts, including risk allowances and contingency drawdown
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and reconcile forecasted spending against actual costs and project progress
• Identify cost variances and potential overrun exposure, communicating risks clearly to project teams and stakeholders
• Support monthly reporting by preparing cost narratives, variance analysis, and executive-level updates
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and finance teams to resolve cost discrepancies
• Support project closeout activities, including final pay applications and retention release

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in cost engineering, cost control, or construction cost management
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical field
• Hands-on experience in practical construction or EPC cost management, preferably on large-scale, complex programs
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite for building and maintaining cost models
• Experience with cost management or ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Power BI, or Primavera P6
• Proven ability to challenge cost data, test assumptions, and identify commercial risks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical, or hyperscale MEP-heavy construction programs
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and integrated cost-schedule-risk analysis
• Professional certification such as CCP, PMP, RICS, or AACE
• Advanced experience with dashboarding and reporting platforms like Power BI
