About the role
Responsibilities
- Establish and document accounting treatment, policies, and procedures for demonstration plant assets, including depreciation and internal cost allocations
- Develop and maintain robust cost accounting systems to track raw materials, labor, and overhead in accordance with GAAP
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and inventory levels, supporting monthly/quarterly physical inventory counts and reconciliations
- Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, and purchase price) and communicate findings to Finance and Operations
- Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger
- Prepare monthly gross margin reports by product, customer, and production job to assist in pricing strategies
- Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain to identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase production efficiency
- Own inventory-related internal controls, documentation, and testing to ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness
- Assist in ERP/software implementation and optimization to ensure accurate costing data
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in construction-in-progress, inventory, cost, or manufacturing accounting
- Advanced knowledge of inventory costing and valuation methodologies (Weighted Average, Standard Cost, FIFO)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with large datasets, pivot tables, and lookup functions
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, including ownership of inventory workflows
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and variance analysis skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Active CPA license
- Previous experience in a fast-paced startup or high-growth manufacturing company
