About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide technician-level controls support to ongoing operations in various fiber manufacturing process areas
  • Develop SOPs, system documentation, and electrical schematics for new and existing process equipment
  • Independently troubleshoot issues with legacy equipment
  • Add desired functionality to existing process control systems to support product development
  • Support pollution abatement systems and assist with capital projects related to process control upgrades

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years of experience in technician roles OR an Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of experience
  • Understanding of electrical panel layout, schematic development, and system testing/troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text)
  • Familiarity with sensors and process instrumentation (thermocouples, flow meters/controllers, level sensors, etc.)
  • Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with technical problem solving, critical thinking, and data-based decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical schematic development using AutoCAD Electrical software
  • Experience with FactoryTalk View HMI Systems
  • Familiarity with VFD functionality and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of PID control theory
  • Familiarity with the fiber glassmaking process and NFPA 70/79 electrical standards
