About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technician-level controls support to ongoing operations in various fiber manufacturing process areas
- Develop SOPs, system documentation, and electrical schematics for new and existing process equipment
- Independently troubleshoot issues with legacy equipment
- Add desired functionality to existing process control systems to support product development
- Support pollution abatement systems and assist with capital projects related to process control upgrades
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years of experience in technician roles OR an Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of experience
- Understanding of electrical panel layout, schematic development, and system testing/troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text)
- Familiarity with sensors and process instrumentation (thermocouples, flow meters/controllers, level sensors, etc.)
- Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience with technical problem solving, critical thinking, and data-based decision making
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical schematic development using AutoCAD Electrical software
- Experience with FactoryTalk View HMI Systems
- Familiarity with VFD functionality and troubleshooting
- Understanding of PID control theory
- Familiarity with the fiber glassmaking process and NFPA 70/79 electrical standards
