About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control (EIC) systems for iron-production processes from concept through commissioning.
- Own the full lifecycle of control system design, including P&IDs, I/O lists, control narratives, electrical schematics, and network architectures.
- Lead integration efforts for PLC/HMI/SCADA system architecture and control strategies.
- Oversee installation, configuration, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT) of control systems.
- Program and troubleshoot Siemens S7 PLCs (TIA Portal) and Ignition HMI & SCADA systems.
- Develop and review electrical design packages in SolidWorks Electrical, including control panel designs and wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with process, mechanical, and R&D teams to define system requirements.
- Apply safety analysis methodologies such as FMEA, PHA, and HAZOP to manage industrial risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of industry experience in controls and data acquisition.
- 3+ years of experience with PLC programming, including Ladder Logic and structured text (Siemens preferred).
- Proficiency in industrial automation protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, and RS485.
- High-level programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Javascript.
- Strong working knowledge of high- and low-voltage electrical design and industrial power distribution.
- Advanced experience with industrial instrumentation (voltage, temperature, pressure, flow, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Siemens S7 (TIA Portal), Ignition, SolidWorks Electrical, and SQL databases.
- Experience in chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, or pilot-plant operations.
- Experience with control panel design per UL 508A and hazardous area classification.
