About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own Japan Play Pass and games marketing strategy in collaboration with the US Publishing team
  • Drive Play Pass subscriber acquisition, engagement, and retention through integrated and performance marketing
  • Select, contract, and manage a Japan marketing agency
  • Plan and execute games-focused events, community initiatives, and influencer programs
  • Build and manage a Japan Performance Marketing function, including future direct reports
  • Co-own Japan’s unified brand strategy with the Hardware Marketing Manager
  • Adapt global GTM toolkits and creative assets for the Japanese market

Requirements

  • 10+ years of marketing experience with significant experience in the Japanese consumer market
  • At least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Proven track record of building and leading marketing functions or teams
  • Experience in subscription marketing (acquisition, engagement, and retention)
  • Hands-on performance marketing experience (paid search, paid social, programmatic)
  • Experience managing marketing agencies in Japan end-to-end
  • Native or near-native Japanese proficiency (written and verbal)
  • Strong English proficiency for US-based collaboration
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, startup-like environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience marketing subscription services, gaming platforms, or digital content in Japan
  • Background in games marketing, including title launches and live operations
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Adjust, or AppsFlyer
  • Experience with community management or influencer marketing for gaming/family audiences
  • Understanding of Japanese children’s advertising regulations and data privacy standards
